Additional Information for International Students

Student programmes

Aotea College provides education for Year 9 (Form 3) to Year 13 (Form 7).  In addition to preparing students for national examinations, Aotea College is accredited by the New Zealand Qualifications Authority to deliver programmes from the National Qualifications Framework.  This includes National Certificate of Educational Achievement (NCEA) subjects at levels 1, 2 and 3.  The timetable is flexible to allow students to study multi-level programmes.

Academic year

The academic year is divided into four terms: Term 1 - February to April; Term 2 - April to June; Term 3 - July to September; and Term 4 - October to December.  The programme is sufficiently flexible to allow international student enrolments during the academic year.

Facilities and services

Aotea College has excellent specialist facilities including four computer suites; music, art and drama suites; modern science and technology facilities; a well-equipped library; and an auditorium.  There are two gymnasiums, tennis courts and many playing fields.

With the assistance of the ESOL Department, each international student will have an Individual Education Plan.  This is a commitment by the school to meet individual learning needs.
