Aotea Sports Code of Conduct

Sports Coach: Roles and Responsibilities

Main Roles

 1. To liaise with the convenor of the sport you are coaching.

 2. Plan and implement training sessions

 3. Manage and ensure all equipment/gear is maintained with manager.

 4. To ensure the playing field, the gymnasium, the court, or any school facilities used are left tidy and ready for the next group and that all equipment is returned to the appropriate place.

 5. To manage the conduct of players both on and off the field.

 6. Coach the team on game day or make arrangements if you are away.

Team Manager Roles and Responsibilities

Main Roles

1. To liaise with respective coach re queries/concerns/issues.

2. To manage first aid issues and hydration.

3. To manage any spectator queries/concerns/issues.

4. To ensure the playing field, the gymnasium, the court, or any school facilities used are left tidy and ready for the next group and that all equipment is returned to the appropriate place.

5. Inform Sports Co-ordinator of all results.

6. Organising transport to games.

7. Maintaining Inventory of equipment and gear.X

Players Individual Roles and Responsibilities

Main Roles

1. To attend all games and practice sessions.

2. To be on time and to be prepared for all games and practice sessions.

3. To ensure that if you cannot attend any practice, or any game, or if you will not be on time, that you inform your coach or manager within a reasonable time.

4. To take responsibility for - and to take care of any equipment, uniform, or facility, belonging to the school.

5. To adhere to Aotea Values and the Values of the sporting code at all times.

  • Recognise good play of the opponents and team members.
  • Remember that players play for their enjoyment
  • Reinforce the fact that an honest effort is as important as winning
  • Respect the officials of the games and never question their honesty
  • Encourage good sporting behaviour and promote fair play.
