| Textiles
The Textiles option gives students the opportunity to work with fabrics. It involves using sewing machines and such, aswell as designing, creating and decorating with fabric objects. (Tasks depend on year. See 'Year Specific Outline' below).
Year Specific Outline
Year 9 - 9MTX
Design and make a wall hanging. Cultural heritage design work. Skills work including sewing machine. Fabric decoration.
Year 10 - 10MTX
Students will gain confidence in decision making, design skills, pattern adaption, construction of garments/products, evaluating work and use of technical equipment. They will design and create an item of wearable art, design and make a non-wearable item, and work towards gaining six Level One credits while they make a garment of their choice.
Year 11 - MTX1
Students present a folio of researched work and complete a final product. They will design and mass-produce a product to be sold at market and they will also make a garment from knit fabric.
Year 12 - MTX2
Students will begin the year by doing a designing and indrawing unit. They will also design and produce an item of wearable art. Finally they will produce a product of their choice for a person of their choice.
Year 13 - MTX3
This course covers all aspects of textiles in the design and construction of complex garments and how to present a folio of work. Students will develop a complex design; develop pattern pieces for complex design; cut, assemble, and fit toile for complex design; and produce pattern pieces for individual fit. Students will design and construct an item for wearable arts.
