Graphics
Graphics is a great option for those who love art and drawing. It involves model making, drawing two and three dimensional pictures and the process of designing. (Tasks depend on year. See 'Year Specific Outline' below).
Year Specific Outline
Year 9 - 9GDE
The design process and technology. Freehand and instrument drawing. Model making techniques. Two and three dimensional drawing.
Year 10 - 10GDE
This full year course of study prepares students for entry into Level One graphics. Students will learn about all aspects of the design process developing a range of graphical skills. These skills will be developed in their folios and enable the students to complete two assignments and an end of year exam. By course completion, students will be able to draw in both two and three dimensionals using freehand and instrumental techniques.
Year 11 - GDE1
This course consists of three individual assignments through the year. Students will generate knowledge on product and packaging design, ergonomics and architectural design. Students will compile worksheets that demonstrate the key graphical skills in these assignments to be assessed externally.
Year 12 - GDE2
This course of study consists of three individual assignments running through the year. The skills covered will include freehand and instrumental drawing, working drawings, pictorial drawings, mock-up and models and presentation drawings. The students will be required to select work to be assessed externally. They will also research a design or design style for part of their external assessment.
Year 13 - GDE3
This course of study allows students to select the topic they want to work with. Having already acquired a range of key skills in the previous years courses, students will write their own brief to cover an architectural, landscaping, engineering or media brief. Students will be expected to commit to producing an extensive portfolio of work based of their briefs, including research and investigation materials.
