What do you think of science at Aotea?
We have a vibrant and enthusiastic Science department with a strong practical and hands-on approach. Our teachers have a very wide knowledge base and many interests outsideof school. The number of students taking science has grown significantly over the last few years as a result. Many students do not realise how lucky they are to be studing in the Aotea science department.

Why is Science important?
Knowledge gives us more control over our lives and opensup many choices. Science has enabled us to eat better food, travel furthur and faster, communicate more easily, fight diseases, etc. Imagine what life must have been like for NZ onehundred years ago... today we have it easy (so lets's be more positive and smile more often...).

Will science save the world?
Of course not - science is an approach to thinking about and understandingthe world. Scientific knowledge can then be used to help in desion makeing process, but ethics and values are ultimately what will determine the future of humanity. I am sure that all of us have made poor choices at times despite knowing the consequences of our actions.
